MSP Fitness|CrossFit MSP is the Twin Cities' premier strength and conditioning facility located in St. Louis Park, opening onto Cedar Lake bike trail. We are 10 minutes SW of Downtown Minneapolis, and 5 minutes from Uptown. We are convenient to the following neighborhoods: St. Louis Park, Edina, Hopkins, Golden Valley, Plymouth, Minnetonka, Wayzata, and South Minneapolis.

We started our fitness journey with the opening of our doors in early 2009. At that time, most people CrossFitMSP - Michael, Van and ...knew very little about the benefits of CrossFit's training methodology. People thought weight training would make women look like men, or the only way to get fit was to spend endless hours exercising. Whether it is better to exercise this way or that way is still debated, and quick fix, scam diets and pills still abound. We have the expertise to dispel the myths and misconceptions about fitness with real programs, with real results, for real people.

We saw the need for knowledgeable and certified fitness professionals to lead safe and effective exercise classes and fitness training programs. We also believe in affordable, flexible memberships at a facility that is well equiped and well maintained.

We are dedicated to the health and well being of our members and to keeping our promises. Much more than just a health club, our immaculate, chic, 3000 square feet light industrial space is home to a variety of exciting programs, classes, and activities to service the many needs and interests of our members.

Of course, at the heart of it all is our incredible staff. Professional, certified and positive, each person brings a dedication to providing exceptional customer service, expert advice, and a passion for health and fitness.

A quick triva regarding the "MSP" in our name - the "MSP" stands for Minneapolis-St. Paul, but also has a personal meaning for the founders. They represent the initials of one of the founders, Michael S. Pilhofer.

CrossFit MSP Mission and Vision

Our mission is to help people at any age and level, from the absolute beginner to highly trained athlete, reach their fitness goals. Our vision is to be a transformational force in imparting knowledge, inspiration, encouragement, and passion for fitness in a fun and enjoyable top notch facility.

What We Do CrossFit MSP

We are NOT your typical gym. You will not find rows of stationary bikes, treadmills, and weight machines. Instead you will find pull-up bars, kettlebells, barbells, and plenty of space for squatting, running, jumping, climbing, lifting, and throwing. The muscles in our bodies are designed to work as systems, and to yield the most effective results, we will train that way. Your workouts will be comprised of exercises that mimic movements performed in day-to-day life, or sport. In short, we do functional fitness.

Each day’s workout is scalable to suit your fitness level, and because our workouts take on average 45-55 minutes from warm-up to cool down, they can fit into even the busiest of schedules.

Our workouts focus our clients on optimizing physical competencies in the following ten fitness domains for a general fitness level unmatched by any other fitness program:

  1. Endurance – the ability of body systems to gather, process, and deliver oxygen (cardiovascular/respiratory endurance).
  2. Stamina – the ability of body systems to gather, store, deliver, and utilize energy (capacity to maintain muscular movements).
  3. Strength – the ability of muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force.
  4. Flexibility- The ability to maximize the range of motion at a given joint.
  5. Power – The ability of muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time.
  6. Speed – The ability to minimize time cycle of a repeated movement.
  7. Coordination – The ability to combine several distinct movements into a single distinct movement.
  8. Agility – The ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another.
  9. Balance – The ability to control the placement of one’s body center of gravity in relation to its support base.
  10. Accuracy – The ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity.

With our constantly varied programming, you will rarely do the same workout twice in any given month. Simply put, you will never get bored. We do the programming so sit back and enjoy the ride.
