Some of you may or may not know this about me but I am here to confess, I LUV Weightlifting (or what is often called "Olympic Weightlifting").
If you're not familiar with what I am referring to, it is the two glorious barbell lifts called the "SNATCH" and "CLEAN & JERK". Of course I am heavily biased, but to me there are not two more challenging, rewarding athletic movements in all of sports than these two lifts. They are simply exceptional in developing Speed, Strength, Power, Flexibility, Coordination, Concentration, Focus, Patience..., and I could go on and on not to mention they are just FUN!!!
To perform these lifts with any confidence and quality, it is imperative that a lifter dedicate some focused time to learning the proper technique, and hone their skills. I am here to tell you that it is an absolute joy for me to introduce and coach these lifts to both new and experienced lifters.
With that said, I am excited to announce that starting Monday, February 13th, we will be starting up a 7 week, 3x/week, Weightlifting Focused Training Session aimed at both lifters new to the sport, and those who have trained and competed with me previously.
1. For those that are new to MSP Weightlifting:
There will be two lifting Seminars in which you be required to attend. The dates are:
Saturday, February 4th @ 9:30-11:00am: "The Snatch"
Monday, February 6th @ 7:15-8:45pm: "The Clean & Jerk"

2. For those that have lifted with MSP Weightlifting previously, and/or completed the Lifting Seminars. (as indicated in Step #1 above):
The Weightlifting Training Sessions will begin on Monday, February 13th and run through March 31st.
Days/times for these sessions will be:
Monday - 7:15-8:30pm
Wednesday - 6:15-7:30pm
Saturday - 9:30-10:45am
Participation in these Weightlifting sessions will count as a class "visit", plus a one time nominal investment of $39 for the additional coaching time, smaller class size, and ensure a level of commitment. Non-members wishing to attend these Weightlifting Focused sessions can contact us at

Seminar Coach:
Michael Pilhofer - Co-Founder and Head Coach at CrossFit MSP. Michael initially obtained his WeightLifting training under Coach Mike Burgener, receiving his CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certification in 2008. He since has been training with Olympian, and Master Coach Brian Derwin. Michael is a USAW Senior Coach, a USAW Sports Performance Coach, and is President and Head Coach of CrossFit MSP Weightlifing Club. Overall, he has 20+ years of teaching/coaching experience and has an amazing ability to break the most complex movements down to their simplest form to help any athlete improve their lifts.
