- OH Squats
then 4 Rounds of:
- OH Squats
- Double Unders
OK, I have to be honest, when I first watched this video, I laughed...I laughed HARD!!! I am sure we could have a very active blog exchange of all the things in this video that are just "not right", but I then stepped back and challenged my own preconceptions, potential biases...and thought to myself, "What if this really does work? What if this WAS the 6 minute REVOLUTION for TRUE fitness?...after all, the guy in the video looks pretty good, right?"
6 Minutes to revolutionary fitness...hmmm...really? Consider this though, what sort of reaction do you get when you talk to people (not familiar with the world of CrossFit) about the results from your recent FRAN workout? What was their reaction when they hear that it took you short of 8 or 6 minutes, or for some 3 or less to complete the WOD? Did they look at you like you're crazy, as they prepare their upcoming 60+ minute workout at Globo Gym "X"?
There is no one way to "Get Fit" If you ask I will be more than happy to talk your ear off as to why we are passionate about what we do at CFMSP. With that said, I am completely supportive of anyone taking charge and making positive steps toward a healthy lifestyle. What comes to your mind when trying to look at things from different angles/perspectives? What do you think about when you watched this video?
P.S. Sorry ladies, you will have to get your own FITNESS REVOLUTION!

Weight first but I see Amber and Liz took care of that
Great job ladies! Lacee and I have probably spent too much time watching in disbelief/making fun/laughing at the Shake Weight commercials especially the SNL version. I mean, really?
Jokes aside- I am happy for anyone that takes the initiative to get out there and be active. The key is consistency and finding something you enjoy doing. In my opinion crossfit is the only option, however I know there are others that would stand up for their activity of choice as well.

It is a quote from Eric Greitens (former Navy Seal, Rhodes & Truman Scholar......many other things). It is about how he manages to be succsesfull and get things done.
"It’s all about energy. Whether you’re leading a nonprofit organization, running a private company, doing something outdoors, or conducting military operations — you have to build habits that keep your energy high. This is my formula: (1) Vigorous exercise: Six days a week, I walk out of a gym, a dojo, or off a track pouring with sweat … (2) Good fuel: When I eat clean, quality food during the day, my energy never sags. (3) Good partners: Working with a team of positive people keeps your spirits up. (4) Balance: I pray every day, and I also laugh, a lot. You won’t have focus without balance. (5) A goal: A worthy challenge will take care of your motivation for you."

In Bloomington we have a curbside pickup every spring. One year I noticed a neighbor had put out an Ab Lounge. I saw another neighbor go grab it and then I saw it at the curb again the next year. I guess it's making its way around the neighborhood... maybe I'll pick it up for myself if I see it at the curb again.
If you look in the For Sale section on craigslist, there are always a ton of Bowflex and Total Gym machines. People put a lot of money into those things! Like others have said, any effort is better than nothing. But, I think so many people who are buying these products aren't really willing to put in a real effort, instead looking for an easy solution that doesn't exist. And that's why these things end up gathering dust, put out at the curb, or are listed for sale on craigslist.

It is soooo true that ANY program to keep moving is better than nothing. This story proves it beyond any doubt. http://www.wftv.com/news/3643877/detail.html (WFS)
WARNING: this link is sad/tragic!

And we have this (for those with certain humor)http://www.hulu.com/watch/143264/saturday-night-live-shake-weight-dvd
But silliness aside, when I see videos like this I usually think about most of the people that buy these products. Even if this was a great tool for the upper body, how many of those people are going to be consistent? How many are going to incorporate exercise for the res of the body? How many of those people are going to change their eating habits? I am betting that most wont and the Shake Weight will be abound at garage sales near you in a summer or two. That said, I am 100% for anything that get's a body moving.
